Just got back to hotel. Very sarcastic receptionist guy checked me in. Bare walls and bare minimum here in terms of recreation, but at least the bed is flat. Had back to back interviews all day. Tired as a dog. But we covered a lot of ground. Plenty of indie, metal, rock and art magazines and alt radio stations. Huge thank you to Despotz and HIM Press for setting all this up, the feedback from all the journalists who've been listening to CONFESSIONS has been amazing. They all really seem to understand this is more than just a record, it's an autobiography of where we are now as a band and what has lead us to this moment in time. Something feels really special here, we've never connected on such profound level with the press. It's like they've been waiting for us to make this leap in sound and everyone is so appreciative. Thanks again Paris! Super early wake up tomorrow as I catch the Eurostar train to London where I've got a couple of action packed days with Team Rock and Co. It's gonna be weird for me to be back on "home soil" after being away for a whole year! Time to nurse a chicken fillet and couscous into my face before I hit the hay. Goodnight!
What an unholy hour to be awake. Taxi here in 30mins to take me to Stockholm Arlanda airport.
Think we were late taking off, but I'm gonna get some sleep. Have a whole row to myself to lie down - thanks Air France! Brought my headphones, Suicide Squad soundtrack, own pillow, and breakfast burrito I cooked the night before. This is quality Nathan time!
Arrived 09:30 in Paris, already a little late. My first interview is at 10:30 with RADIO METAL so very little time to dawdle. Jumped straight in a taxi. 50€ on the meter before even leaving the airport... And people say Stockholm is expensive! Tried making small-talk with the driver, didn't go so well. Call me stupid but I miss my bros already. Well, off I go to Gibson France which will be my office for the afternoon. Hope there's so fun people to talk to there.
PS- Here's a Life Hack: If you're traveling light take one of the Motorbike Taxis. Traffic is bananas here. One of these will end up costing you less and you'll be there in quicker time. Just make sure you bring spare underwear!
Arrived late. No surprise there. But the plain, unnamed front door of Gibson HQ was very discerning when the taxi dropped me off. Am I in the wrong place? Nope! Walked inside greeted by the very friendly HIM PR agency who we're working with here, and the awesome people at Gibson guitars. After quick tour around the building (that has more guitars than I've ever seen!) I jump straight into my interviews. Three down. Many more to go. Highlight being Metal Impact, journalist called Pasquale was great to talk to and offered some very open minded questions and shared many same opinions on music and our new album - great guy!
Immediately thought of my buddy Ryan Roxie of Alice Cooper when I walked in. Turns out he's never been here! That must be a guitar crime punishable by death! Either way the staff say "hi Ryan" if you read this, and apparently they met up at Hellfest.
Gonna grab a quick bite to eat now and then dig into some more interviews.
